To demonstrate the strength and reliability of our engineered components, we recently conducted a set of controlled laboratory tensile tests comparing our 3 ton J-hook against a competitor’s equivalent product.
Both hooks were tested in a like for like configuration, sewn into 5T-rated high spec webbing, and subjected to gradual tensile loading using calibrated testing equipment. The goal was simple: determine which hook maintains structural integrity under increasing force.
The tensile tests measured the exact load at which each hook or assembly failed. This method ensures objective, repeatable, and safety relevant results.
Failure Mode: Hook bent open
Failure Load: 27.89 kN (≈ 2.84 tons)
The hook deformation occurred before reaching its rated 3 ton capacity, indicating a reduced safety margin and structural vulnerability under high load.
Failure Mode: Webbing stitching failure (NOT the hook)
Failure Load: 32.89 kN (≈ 3.35 tons)
Importantly: The J-hook itself remained completely undamaged, even beyond the threshold at which the stitching gave way.
Our 3T J-hook comfortably surpassed its rated load, absorbing higher tensile forces without bending, cracking, or failing.
